A 19-year-old Cuban woman died on Friday, July 5, as a result of the injuries sustained in a traffic accident between the motorcycle she was traveling on and a truck in Maldonado, Uruguay.
According to the FM Gente media outlet, the young woman identified as Haila Fiol Daudinot, 19 years old, suffered the unfortunate accident last Wednesday, July 3rd at the entrance of Maldonado, after colliding her motorcycle with a truck on Route 39.
The young woman was riding a motorcycle on Route 39, and, almost at the entrance to Boulevard Artigas, in the lane towards Maldonado, she collided with the rear of a truck that was traveling in the same direction and was turning into a warehouse entrance," the local media Punta News added.
The young woman was left lying on the road and lost consciousness as a result of the impact. She was also experiencing abundant bleeding, as described by the aforementioned media outlet.
The first aid was provided by personnel from a medical emergency unit of LAE and then she was transferred, in serious condition, with a primary diagnosis of polytrauma to the head and brain.
Haila, from Santiago de Cuba, had arrived in Uruguayan lands around mid-last year. With the effort that migration entails for a person, who moreover arrives alone in an unknown country, the young woman started working and managed to bring her mother to the South American country. She was in the process of doing the same for her father.
Lisset Daudinot Martinez, Haila's mother, works at the Cantegril sanatorium and has received the support of her union colleagues.
According to Punta News, funds are being raised to help with the expenses generated by the accident and the death of the young woman. In addition to covering the cost of transferring Haila's remains to give her a burial in Cuba.

Haila's friends have shown their feelings for the loss through videos and words that reveal the pain of her departure.
"Only God knows why He took you out of my life so soon, at only 20 years old. You were not only my friend but also my sister, and that is why the pain of your departure is immense for me. If you are listening to me at this moment, ask God to give me comfort because I will always miss you," wrote the user Andrés Quiala Carón on Facebook.
