Rosmeri Díaz: The Havana native aspiring to Miss Universe Cuba 2024

Rosmeri Díaz, a young Cuban in the U.S., is competing to represent Cuba in Miss Universe 2024. She has overcome a migratory journey and stands out for her perseverance and values.

Rosmeri Díaz is a 27-year-old woman from San Miguel del Padrón, Havana, and is determined to become Cuba's representative in the Miss Universe 2024 pageant.

This young woman from Havana currently resides in Lehigh, Florida and is among the top 95 finalists competing for the title of Miss Universe Cuba.

The organizers of the contest will make a second cut to select 40 models and finally 20 who will participate in the eliminations that will take place in Miami on September 15, which will be the crucial step to represent the island in the international Miss Universe gala in November, in Mexico.

Rosemari is optimistic and confident in her abilities in the modeling world and could have opportunities to claim the coveted crown.

Since arriving in the United States, after a tough migratory journey, she has been preparing for this beauty pageant.

"Despite the nervousness, I feel that I have achieved a lot in this world that I am so passionate about," declared the young woman in a recent interview with Martí Noticias.

"In Cuba, I attended the Compañía de Danzas Tradicionales de Cuba JJ academy under the direction of Johannes García," he/she related, highlighting his/her experience in performances at the Teatro América and the Karl Marx.

Rosmeri's life has been a series of challenges and overcoming obstacles. In 2018, she emigrated with her father to Guyana, starting a complicated journey through Latin America.

"It was four days of a very tough journey until reaching Uruguay," she recalled. There she worked in various jobs until she met her husband, which facilitated her arrival in the United States in 2021.

Rosmeri firmly believes that beauty not only resides in physical appearance but also in values and life experiences.

"Your values as a human being and what you have learned throughout life is what you should demonstrate every day," he pointed out.

In this year's Miss Universe Cuba competition, more than 500 women of Cuban origin entered the contest. There were no restrictions on age, marital status, height, or body measurements, to provide an inclusive opportunity for all participants.

The young model maintains a strict routine of diet and exercise to ensure her health and well-being, but she asserts that 80 percent of her results are due to a balanced diet.

Rosmeri does not lose contact with her friends and family in Cuba, who constantly support her. "If I have the opportunity to enter the 'top 20', I promise to represent my friends, all Cubans, and my people with all my heart," she stated.

Since 1960, Cuba has not participated in the Miss Universe pageant due to prohibitions imposed by the regime. Rosmeri Díaz seeks to change this history and represent her country with pride and dedication.

"I want the whole world to know what we Cubans are made of and the strength we possess," she said emotionally.
