A truck from the Electric Company had an accident in Holguín this Friday, after the driver lost control of the brakes, crashed into a tree, and ended up on the sidewalk.

The incident occurred in the municipality of Banes, right in front of the old Hanoi movie theater.

According to Orelvis Aldo Guerrero, sports commentator and broadcaster on Radio Banes, fortunately there were only material damages.

"The call is for care and attention on the road, in order to enjoy a summer with family," he said on his Facebook wall.

According to Aldo Guerrero, in the last few days, other accidents with trucks have occurred in Banes: one that crashed into a pole and another one from a cooperative that overturned.

In the comments section, two people reported that the same vehicle lost its brakes in front of their houses.

"It is negligence on the part of the driver of the car, (...) it is necessary to take the appropriate measures, as instead of hitting a tree, the impact could have been against a person," emphasized a young woman.

Traffic accidents in Cuba continue to be one of the main causes of death on the Island.

Last Tuesday, a motorcyclist was left in critical condition after crashing his motorcycle into a truck at the intersection of 100th Avenue and Vento Causeway, in the Havana municipality of Boyeros.

According to a publication in the independent media La Tijera, the man was urgently taken to the hospital. The images showed that the incident shocked the witnesses, who helped load the motorcyclist into a blue car.

Last week, an accident occurred in Holguín between a Diana bus and a truck in which three people lost their lives, including former baseball player Vladimiro Torres, 33 years old.

According to posts on social media, the accident occurred near the city bypass, on the Mayarí road. For reasons still unknown, the truck driven by a young man named Alejandro Oliveros collided with the rented bus driven by Vladimiro Torres.
