The former President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that he would be traveling to Wisconsin for the Republican Convention this Sunday, despite the assassination attempt he suffered on Saturday.

Trump scheduled his flight for this Sunday at 3:30 pm, less than 24 hours after the attack he was a victim of at a rally in Pennsylvania, where a bullet injured his right ear.

In a message shared on his Truth Social network, the former president admitted that after "the terrible events" on Saturday, he was considering postponing his trip by two days, but ultimately decided to stick to the original plan.

"I cannot allow a 'shooter' or potential assassin to force a change in the schedule or anything else. Therefore, I will be heading to Milwaukee, as planned, at 3:30 pm today. Thank you. DJT," he stated.

Trump flew from Pennsylvania to New Jersey on Saturday night after being discharged from the hospital, just a few hours after the attack.

A video released by the press allowed us to see him upon his arrival at the airport, descending the stairs of his private plane on his own, showing that he is in good health. He briefly greeted and continued walking with a calm attitude that did not reflect what he had experienced shortly before.

The political leader stayed that night at his private golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, where he spends the summer, surrounded by his family.

On Thursday, Trump's candidacy for the White House representing the Republican Party is expected to be made official.

The Convention will start on Monday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as planned, although with reinforced security measures, as ordered by President Biden to the Chief of the Secret Service.

Trump claimed that if he survived the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, it was due to divine intervention.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as only God prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will not be afraid, but will remain steadfast in our faith and defiant against evil," he stated.

"It is more important than ever that we remain united and show our true character as Americans, staying strong and determined, and not allowing evil to prevail. I truly love our country, and I love all of you, and I hope to be able to speak to our great nation this week from Wisconsin," he concluded.

The former president sent his solidarity to the other victims of the attack. Authorities confirmed that there is one fatality and two critically injured individuals, all three adult males.
