The Cuban girl Vanessa de la Caridad Ramírez Aquino, with a tumor in one of her eyes, received medical attention at the Rafael Estrada González Neurology Institute in Havana, following a viral complaint from her mother on social media.

Yunisleidy Aquino, the mother of the six-year-old girl, used her Facebook profile to express her gratitude to all the people who shared her message, which ultimately resulted in her daughter being transferred to the hospital last Tuesday at two in the afternoon.

Aquino explained that, after four days of requesting the transfer, his daughter is now being attended to by doctors in Havana.

In her post, the mother described her daughter as a cheerful, affectionate, and intelligent girl, who maintains a positive attitude despite the difficult situation she is facing with a tumor in her left eye.

"I thank God and all those people who have been concerned about my little girl," wrote the mother, also thanking those who helped share her complaint on social media.

Vanessa's case became public when Yunisleidy Aquino reported on Facebook that the Juan Manuel Márquez Hospital in Havana refused to admit her daughter, and that she had not received a response from the Ministry of Health or the provincial director of the Cuban capital.

Indignant, she questioned whether the hospital was private and whether it was necessary to pay for medical attention or the operation that the child needs.

Due to the lack of medical supplies and the crisis in the Cuban healthcare system, many mothers end up turning to social media to make cases visible and pressure for their children to be treated.

A few weeks ago, Cuban Rosalba Castillo, who had reported the lack of medication to treat her son's illness, warned that the drug had appeared because she challenged the government of Pinar del Río on Facebook.

"Was there or wasn't there medication in Pinar del Río, or did they perform magic?" wrote the enraged mother on Facebook, emphasizing that "when a mother fights with reason for her child, you tremble."
