A traffic accident that occurred this Sunday at the intersection of Calvario and San Francisco streets in the historic center of Santiago de Cuba resulted in multiple injuries.
Journalist Yosmany Mayeta reported on Facebook that the accident, which involved a bus and a small truck carrying a coffin in the back, resulted in several injuries. The injured individuals were taken to the hospitals in the city.

The spokesperson did not specify the extent of the accident or the exact number of injured individuals, nor did they provide details on the severity of the injuries, although they stated that they are continuing to investigate and seeking further information.
In another post, Mayeta noted that in the case of the pizicorre, it was “one of the vehicles leased for necrological services and has been functioning as a hearse for some time.”
Due to its narrowness and the high volume of vehicles that travel through it, as well as being the main route to the province's primary funeral home, Calvario Street is prone to traffic accidents.
This is not the first time that incidents involving vehicles transporting caskets have occurred in Santiago de Cuba.
Last May, the poor condition of a car resulted in a coffin falling onto the asphalt on the busy and central Garzón Avenue.
The incident occurred in front of a children's center and in a very busy area of the eastern city, just a few blocks from the provincial headquarters of the PCC and near the intersection that marks kilometer 969 of the Central Highway.
Recently, a vehicle from the Conformadora de Metales Company (Profix) in Santiago de Cuba collided with a motorcycle, causing significant damage to the electric bike.
The accident occurred on Victoriano Garzón Avenue at the entrance of Calle K, in the Sueño neighborhood of Santiago de Cuba, as reported by Mayeta on her Facebook profile.
