Cuban woman goes viral for her recipe for ripe banana peel candy.

"Believe me, it turned out good; I only made a little, just to satisfy my curiosity, and I liked it a lot. The only thing is that it's a little chewy," said the woman.

A Cuban woman has gone viral on the Internet after sharing photos of a sweet made from ripe banana peels that she made at home following a television program.

The lady shared photos of her dish in the Facebook group "Recipes from the Heart" and explained that she was motivated by curiosity after seeing Chef Adis Pereira Diez and her daughter Lorena on the show Entre Recetas last Sunday.

"Believe me, it turned out well, I did very little, just to satisfy my curiosity, and I liked it a lot, the only thing is that it’s a bit chewy," he noted.

The woman, a resident of Cárdenas, Matanzas, explained that she chopped the banana peels into strips and made a thick syrup with anise. Then she placed them in a bit of water and cooked them.

"And there's the result," he said.

The post was shared in various publications, where thousands of people commented on the appearance of the candy -many think it looks like worms or calandracas- and on the severe food shortages in Cuba, which force people to prepare such "recipes," and even make it seem normal to them.

"They teach you to eat waste, very great, I'm sure the Central Committee snacks on that," a person from Holguín scoffed.

"Is it true that in that program they make those sancocho recipes? They went millions of kilometers overboard," questioned a self-employed worker.

"The peels of root vegetables, such as plantains and potatoes, have always been used to feed animals (without intending to offend anyone), and there are still people who say that it's good food, how outrageous," noted a young woman.

"Keep paying attention to the filthy things they put on television. Neither Frei Betto nor the cooks on Cuban television eat what they recommend. Poor people of Cuba," noted journalist Mario J. Pentón on Facebook.

"Stop everything! Federada makes a succulent dish that she saw on a cooking show on Cuban television," mocked the influencer known as Edmundo Dantés Junior on his wall.

A woman recalled the lavish cooking events usually organized by the First Lady Lis Cuesta and suggested that someone invite her to taste these apocalyptic "creations" of socialism.

"It's a lack of respect to see these things on television spaces. First the cow's intestine, now the banana peel. What's next, eating eggshells? Or rooster nails with spurs and all," protested another internet user.
