Three severe local storms reported in Cuba.

Three severe local storms were recorded this Saturday in the municipalities of Camagüey and Las Tunas, with strong gusty winds, lightning strikes, and hail.

The weather events occurred in the municipalities of Minas and Nuevitas, in Camagüey, and Puerto Padre, Las Tunas, on the afternoon of Saturday, reported meteorologist Miriam Teresita Llanes in the evening broadcast of the National Television News.

Llanes explained that such events were due to "the presence of a trough that has encouraged cloud activity, with strong showers and thunderstorms."

On the satellite map, the specialist noted the "abundant cloud cover" in the eastern half of Cuba and specified that there was also strong activity of showers and thunderstorms in the western part of the country.

The Facebook profile "El tiempo en Camagüey (AALM)" reported that between 1:20 and 1:25 p.m. on Saturday, one of the local storms occurred in the town of Lugareño, in Minas, where "small hail, about the size of a bean, fell."

Another storm struck the La Oriental community in San Miguel, in the municipality of Nuevitas, causing "heavy rains, lightning strikes, strong gusty winds, and the fall of small hail."

In the post, one of the residents commented that in Central Lugareño, near Nuevitas, there had also been hail and strong gusts of wind.

Similarly, the Facebook page "Caribbean Atmospheric Observation Control Center" published a satellite image that showed, at 4:50 p.m., "cores of severe storms over the north of Las Tunas, Sancti Spíritus, Pinar del Río, and Artemisa."

In the middle of the month, thunderstorms, showers, and rains were recorded in the province of Artemisa, with greater intensity in areas such as Güira de Melena, where a severe storm occurred with hail the size of a chickpea.
