A 32-year-old Cuban woman identified as Indira Almaguer was stabbed to death this Tuesday in the city of Louisville, Kentucky, by her ex-partner, Marcelino Fonseca, who is also of Cuban nationality, according to local press reports and was confirmed by family sources on social media.
It was just before one in the afternoon when the Metropolitan Police of the city responded to a residence following an emergency call.
Upon arriving at the scene, they found a woman inside who had been the victim of several knife attacks, 17 stabs, according to a family source of the deceased who confirmed on social media that the murderer brutalized Indira.
After being assisted first by some neighbors, the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived along with the police and transported her to the University Hospital of Louisville, where it was not possible to save her life.
The Louisville Police Department is carrying out an operation to find Marcelino Fonseca, who fled the scene.
After committing the femicide, the man allegedly called his relatives to tell them what he had done and that he was going to hang himself, as reported by the crime reporter Niover Licea.
In recent days, the Louisville police have launched an intense search to find Fonseca.
Both Indira and Marcelino are originally from Cacocum, in the province of Holguín.
This is not the first Cuban to die in Louisville this month. Last week, a 32-year-old Cuban doctor, identified as Yoel Nápoles Ravelo, was shot by officers of the Metropolitan Police of that city in a tragic incident that is under investigation.
