In a span of a few days, at least six people have been arrested in Holguín for drug trafficking, according to two reports on the official Facebook profile Cazador-Cazado.

The mentioned source indicated that five men were arrested on Victoria Street in the Hechavarría neighborhood of the city of Holguín, after more than 50 marijuana bonbons, crack rocks, and cash were seized from them.

The arrested individuals were identified as Carlos Pérez de Armas, Maikel Lorente, Ramón Larry Pacanes, Brayan Sierra, and Ángel Adrián Téllez.

The official source did not provide further details about the circumstances of the arrest.

In another recent incident, a Cuban identified as Salvador Cabrera de Armas was arrested at Caletones beach, in the municipality of Gibara, while attempting to sell marijuana.

In that case, the incident occurred during the National Electronic Music Festival Stereo G, which was held in recent days in that municipality of Holguín.

These are not the first arrests related to drug trafficking in Holguín in recent weeks.

At the end of June, the aforementioned profile reported the arrest of a citizen in the vicinity of Frank País International Airport when the individual was traveling by motorcycle with the merchandise.

"Near the Frank País International Airport in Holguín, L. G. G. was detained by the authorities while traveling from Granma on a private motorcycle. Tied in the groin area, he was carrying a package with marijuana," indicated the official source in that case.

In recent months, the Cuban regime has had to acknowledge an increase in crime and drug-related offenses in Cuba, where more and more young people are consuming substances such as the so-called "químico," a cheap drug with serious health consequences.

In mid-July, during the closing speech of the third session of the National Assembly in its tenth legislature, Miguel Díaz-Canel confirmed the rise in addiction, violence, and crime in the country, in the context of what he called an "adverse socioeconomic scenario."
