Two survivors and a corpse found after the sinking of a boat with 11 people fleeing Cuba.

The two people who have survived the tragedy in Pinar del Río are hospitalized with third-degree burns. The body of Ana Elis Gazquez Vargas, 20 years old, was found in Cortés, despite the fact that the boat left from La Coloma beach.

Shock in Pinar del Río after a boat carrying 11 people, who were trying to escape from Cuba, capsized last week, causing its passengers to fall into the sea. So far, at least the body of the young Ana Elis Gazquez Vargas, 20, who lived in Consolación del Sur, has been recovered. Her body was found in Cortés (Sandino), despite the vessel departing from the beach of La Coloma.

This is how a close friend of the deceased explained it on Facebook, stating that the young woman jumped into the sea "in a rustic boat" with her husband and father-in-law, both of whom are still missing. Last Monday, the young woman's body was recovered, and according to forensic information, she had been dead for nine days.

On the boat, apart from Ana Elis Gazquez Vargas, her husband, and her father-in-law, there were nine other people traveling, but only two of them have been found alive and are recovering from third-degree burns at the Viejo Hospital.

Ana Elis Gazquez's brother lamented on Facebook the death of his sister, although without explaining the reasons or the circumstances surrounding her passing. "You were my solace, and I know we will meet again. I will look for you in heaven," he wrote.

The YouTube channel 'Nio reporting a crime' claims that the young woman's body was recovered on July 30 and that the survivors are her boyfriend and his stepfather, but this contradicts the comment included on the Facebook wall of Luisito Gazquez, the brother of Ana Elis, the only deceased identified so far.

However, the information handled by this YouTube channel states that the deceased was from the Alonso Rojas Popular Council in Consolación del Sur and was the only woman traveling on the boat. She left Cuba despite her mother's request not to do so, but she was desperate to find a better future. She did not drown but rather died of dehydration.

The young woman got into an improvised "chalupa," which began to take on water as soon as they set out to sea, and on the same day they departed, July 14, it crashed into some reefs.

This YouTube channel also states that many of the crew members who are still missing had the money from the sale of their properties in Cuba in their backpacks.
