Traffic accidents show no mercy in Cuba.

The collision early Wednesday morning between a Yutong bus and a pickup truck on the Central Highway, near the province of Camagüey, resulted in at least one fatality, according to various reports on social media.

A video shared in the Facebook group Accidente Buses & Camiones shows that the white truck was destroyed by the impact, the causes of which are unknown.

In that vehicle was the person who died in the accident, who has been identified as "Yoan," and whose death has been mourned by neighbors and friends of the victim.

The crash took place between Florida and the Céspedes junction, near the town after the elevated area called Ortigal, according to local experts.

Several internet users confirmed that the bus involved in the accident would belong to Génesis, a small and medium-sized enterprise (Mipymes) from Las Tunas specialized in maintenance, repair, cleaning, and renovation of transportation.

As of the closing of this note, there are no other confirmed details about the incident, which adds to the list of fatalities in a summer that has been grim on Cuban roads.

In another recent tragedy, also in Camagüey, the collision of a riquimbili with a private truck on Wednesday evening left three fatalities in the municipality of Guáimaro.
