Cuban shows "how expensive life has become in Germany" and sparks debate on TikTok

Users reacted with comments, opinions, and testimonials based on their experiences in other countries.

The Cuban TikToker @rolylabestia, who resides in Germany, shared a video that has generated extensive debate on the platform, showing the purchases he had recently made with the intention of illustrating how expensive it has become to live in the European country.

"Look, that car over there we bought just now, a couple of things, essential items: soda, food, something for the girl, bread, yogurt, and almost everything was on sale. Now I'm going to show you how much we paid for this car. We spent €102 on that little cart, when before in Germany that cart cost 60 or 70 euros. You can already imagine how expensive life has become," said Roly in his video, which has generated a heated debate in the comments section of his post, including references to the precarious situation that Cubans are experiencing.

"In Cuba there is nothing to eat and showing food is a crime. Can you imagine that town without water, without bread, and you with food trucks? Your family surely benefits from your shipment but 70% don’t know what a treat is"; "In Cuba, not even with money can you buy. Greetings brother"; "I’m here in the USA and I try to go shopping only for essentials. At least in Cuba you don’t have that worry, but there’s nothing to buy either"; "Brother, in the USA with 100 dollars you come out with two bags in hand. In Cuba you can't even get that"; "Roly, the situation in Cuba is worse; not only is food expensive, but there’s almost nothing in the markets"; "Brother, deal with it, the situation in Cuba doesn’t have either the cart or the food, much less the 102 euros"; "That's how we are all, brother, that’s a global problem. That car they bought here in the United States cost us much more, but thanks to God we succeed, we work, and we can do it, which is impossible in Cuba," several said in that regard.

Others compared the situation in Germany to that of other countries where the cost of living is equally high or even higher: "Here in the USA, with 100 dollars, you can't buy even half of that. The cost of living has gone up a lot, and I've been here for 35 years. And don't even talk about rent"; "Here in the US, it's easy 400-500"; "Bro, here in Greece with 102 euros you buy less than that"; "Here in Italy, the situation with the basic basket is tough"; "Here in the US, 100 dollars is just two bags at the market"; "Here in Spain, it doesn't go below 200€ and more where I live"; "Here in Switzerland, you buy half of that"; "Here in Miami with 120 USD, I have three little bags in my hand, without a cart"; "In the US, a cart like that would cost $300," added others among the hundreds of comments on the video.

"In Europe, it is like this everywhere now. And you spent little. Not counting how much the fish costs and other essential products"; "Life is expensive in any country"; "Inflation is widespread, my friend"; "The cost of living has risen significantly in all countries, it's not easy," others commented amid the exchange of opinions and testimonies that the video has prompted.
