Customs that a Cuban woman in Mexico cannot forget

A Cuban in Mexico surprises her friends with surreal anecdotes about life in Cuba, revealing unusual customs and adaptations.

A Cuban resident in Mexico has surprised her friends with surreal anecdotes about life on the island, showing that, although she is far away, she cannot forget her roots.

Amid laughter, TikTok user Gabby Guerra (@gabbyguerra335) told her coworker how in Cuba, if you don't eat rice, you haven't really eaten.

For Cubans, a dish without cereal is as if you've only made a snack. This habit is so strong that, even in Mexican lands, they make sure that rice is never missing from their plate.

Another story that has left everyone astonished is public transportation. In the 21st century, wooden carts pulled by horses are still used, something common in the rural areas of the island.

Gabby also surprised her Mexican friend by telling her about the use of toilet paper. Due to decades of scarcity, Cubans learned to make use of even the cardboard from the roll.

These experiences seem straight out of a movie script, but they are part of the reality that still accompanies this Cuban woman.

Customs continue to remind Gabby that, despite being far from her homeland, she will never stop being who she is. She must value the good things that have come into her life to keep fighting for more dreams to come true.
