A Cuban couple died this Wednesday morning after the explosion of an electric motorcycle in their home in the neighborhood of Luyanó in the municipality of Diez de Octubre, Havana.
The incident left his two daughters, aged 14 and two years, seriously injured; they are currently hospitalized at Miguel Enríquez Hospital (La Benéfica).
Witnesses commented on the incident in the Facebook group "Cuban mothers for a better world," where firefighter Ernesto A. Robaina confirmed that minors were left isolated in the house during the fire.
"Because of a motorcycle. People died and there are seriously injured children," "An electric motorcycle exploded and the adults died, and the children were taken away very badly," "A motorcycle exploded inside a house on Princesa Street," and "I live on that block, everyone was crying," were some of the testimonies.
The crime reporter Niover Licea, who identifies himself on the internet as "Nio reporting a crime," revealed the identity of the deceased woman on his Instagram account. Her name was Yilian Martínez, a young woman. It is known that her husband was the electricity collector for the area.
The incident occurred at 6:30 am on Marqués de la Torre Street, between Princesa and Mango.
According to Nio, there were two motorcycles in the house, one exploded and the fire spread to the other as well. The house was gated, which hindered the access of the rescue teams.
The smallest girl is "between life and death," he emphasized.
