Fight in Hialeah over a jar of honey ends with two Cubans detained.

A domestic fight got out of hand. An elderly woman ended up injured and the two of them in prison. Look at the story.

A Cuban family in Hialeah started a dispute over a jar of honey and ended with the detention of Renán Ledesma Martín, 37, and Odalys Martín Mendoza, 61, who are now facing charges of aggravated assault.

The incident occurred on June 5 when the police arrived at a residence at 1490 West 29th Street after receiving a report of domestic violence.

The police report consulted by América Noticias indicates that the argument started because there was no honey left in the house, which led to a confrontation between the accused and a 74-year-old woman.

The situation escalated when Renán Ledesma tried to hit the elderly woman, while Odalys Martín was instigating him. The victim managed to defend herself using her legs, but she was struck on the forehead, resulting in an injury.

The accused fled before the police arrived, but surrendered voluntarily days later. Both were arrested and taken to the county jail.

Renán and Odalys had their court appearance this week. They are facing charges of aggravated assault against an elderly person, and a restraining order has been issued against them, along with a $2,500 bond or the option of an alternative pretrial program.
