The shutdown of the Felton thermoelectric plant this Tuesday has worsened the energy crisis in the country, where blackouts continue to affect the population.

For this Tuesday, the Electric Union (UNE) announces a deficit of 940 MW during peak hours, nearly double the maximum impact reported on Monday: 558 MW at 8:40 PM. That day, service was affected starting at 9:10 AM and could not be restored.

This Tuesday at 7:00 am, there were already 120 MW affected by a generation capacity deficit. During the daytime, a 400 MW impact is forecasted.

During peak hours, a availability of 2280 MW and a maximum demand of 3150 MW are estimated, resulting in a deficit of 870 MW. "If the projected conditions persist, a deficit of 940 MW is expected," the entity details on Facebook.

In addition to units 1 and 2 of Felton, units 1 and 2 of CTE Santa Cruz and unit 4 of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes are out due to breakdowns.

On the other hand, the limitations in thermal generation are 398 MW, and 44 distributed generation plants are out of service due to fuel, affecting a total of 202 MW.

La Felton, from Holguín, went offline from the national electricity system this Tuesday due to a boiler puncture, without the authorities providing further details or informing how long it will take to repair the damage.

Amid the energy crisis that the country is experiencing, the news of this new malfunction at Felton exacerbates the discontent of the population, who see how blackouts intensify every day.
