Miami-Dade Police are searching for a fugitive prisoner from an ICE Detention Center.

The prisoner was held at the Krome Detention Center in the western part of the county.

A fugitive who escaped from one of the detention units of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is being sought by that agency and the Miami-Dade police.

The prisoner, of whom no details were provided, was held at the Krome Detention Center in the western part of the county.

In that area, the authorities established their search perimeter located near Krome Avenue and Southwest Eighth Street, Local 10 News reported.

The detainee is said to have escaped shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to ICE spokesperson Néstor Yglesias.

This Thursday, Pinecrest Glades Academy, located at Southwest 8th Street and 152nd Avenue, near the search area, was partially closed.
