The Cuban comedian Ulises Toirac joined the numerous criticisms from citizens regarding the lack of waste collection, a problem that causes garbage to accumulate in the streets throughout Cuba.
Ulises shared on his Facebook wall a photo of a heap of garbage on a corner in Havana, and although he didn't reveal where it is, the truth is it could be in any neighborhood of the city.
"Tell them whatever you want about the causes. Health is a fundamental link in social priority," he stated.
Using his humor, Toirac mentioned several events that have nothing to do with Cuba as possible causes for the proliferation of garbage dumps in Cuba.
"This is crap in public health. How much clearer can it be?" he concluded.
Dozens of followers lamented the lack of hygiene that prevails in the country, and not a few claimed that "their garbage dumps" far surpass those of the actor.
"Not even during the economic crisis of the 90s was Havana this dirty; it’s really disgusting," said a self-employed worker.
"That's small; in Manzanillo, there are entire streets that are dumps, and nobody cuts the grass in the green areas, 'Communales is on vacation!'" expressed a resident from Granma.
"In the Pan American Village, there is so much accumulated garbage that you can't reach the tanks, and there is also stagnant water," reported an accountant.
"That's how all the streets of Havana are. It's impossible to get through them, there is garbage on every corner that hasn't been picked up for weeks. Who cares?" questioned a resident in San Miguel del Padrón.
