Three minors aged 15, 13, and 9, belonging to a Hispanic family, were left orphaned after their parents died in an incident that authorities are investigating as a murder-suicide.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning at the residence located on the 12000 block of West Randall Park Drive in Westview.

Authorities report a heated argument between the woman, identified as Raiza Cajuso, 39, and the man, Marcos Antonio González, 40, before he shot her and then took his own life, Telemundo 51 reported.

It was the older daughter who contacted the police to report the incident, stated Miami-Dade police detective Andre Martin.

The incident is under investigation, and authorities have confirmed that both individuals involved were not living together at the time of the event.

On Saturday morning, "the officers were sent to the scene of the incident in reference to a report of an injured person. When the officers arrived, they observed an adult man and an adult woman suffering from one or more gunshot wounds," said the Miami-Dade Police.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

In a press release, they also encouraged "anyone who is in any kind of domestic relationship that has turned violent or believes it may become violent to seek resources. Restraining orders for domestic violence are a very useful tool in trying to address issues like this."
