A 23-year-old young man is murdered from behind in Camagüey.

Usiel Quesada Florat was stabbed on the same day he was celebrating an anniversary with his girlfriend, Thalía Cárdenas, who blames the friends for leaving him alone.

He was named Usiel Quesada Florat, was 23 years old, lived in the Salomé neighborhood of Camagüey, and died early on Friday after receiving a stab wound to the back. As of now, it is unknown if the attacker has been apprehended. The state-run newspaper Adelante does not report the news.

Usielito Quesada was with a friend hanging out in a place known as Carpa de Jayamá, in front of the Hotel Camagüey, when he was attacked from behind with a knife, claims La Hora de Cuba, which adds that the murderer lives in the San Antonio neighborhood, also in Camagüey.

The young man who was assaulted, who according to his girlfriend was unarmed, lost his life on the same day as his anniversary with his partner Thalía Cárdenas, who is completely devastated and has reproached that he was left alone. "Where were those who claimed to be his friends? Where were those who went out with him, who left my white boy all alone and killed him?" she asks desperately.

"Wow, this post should be congratulating you on our anniversary and not about your farewell. What an anniversary gift," the girlfriend criticized him in a Facebook post in which she claims that he has ruined her life because he had promised her children, and she only wanted to have them with him.

A neighbor of the deceased, Carmen Casas Fernández, claims on Facebook that she saw Usielito Quesada on the night of this Thursday when he was on his motorcycle and asked him not to go out, as the street is very dangerous in Cuba.

"That same night he stopped to talk to me for a moment by the motorcycle and I said to him: 'Why are you going out at this hour, my boy? The street is very dangerous; that motorcycle encourages criminals on the street to assault you and take it away, but he told me, don't worry old lady, I'll be back right away, I'm just going over there to chat for a bit with the guys.' When I found out, it almost gave me a heart attack because we loved him so much. He was like another son to me, and I was left with the worry that he was going out to the street and learned the next morning... I couldn't believe it because what happened between us last night was a goodbye," he wrote.

Another person, who identifies on Facebook as Sandra Marrero, mourns the death of the only son left to Usielito Quesada's mother (Zoraida Florat).

"Oh my God, why is life so unfair? How could Usielito, a respectful and sociable boy whom we saw grow up in the neighborhood, deserve this? It was cowardice. An unarmed, defenseless child. We demand justice. (...) That murderer does not deserve to live. Born of evil, you ended the only little son Zoraida had left, a child with a good heart, unconditional. There are not enough words to express such pain. Rest in peace, beautiful angel."

The death of the young man from Camagüey occurred one day after another young man, 20 years old, was found dead in a guard post at a prison in Guantánamo, where he was doing military service. Authorities are investigating whether it was a suicide or a murder. The young man was not depressed and had plans for this Friday. Although he had an AKM in his hands, he hanged himself with his belt, a nonsensical act that makes the deceased's circle doubt the official version.

Cuba has become an unsafe country where the only way for the Police to appear is by taking out a sign against the dictatorship. Violent acts occur daily and unlike in other times, now the regime cannot silence the families mourning the loss of a loved one because they are increasing in number and are no longer silent.

This week, a 28-year-old man identified as Raciel Palacios, a resident of Reparto Altamira in Santiago de Cuba, was stabbed on Tuesday night near a bus stop in that area. The victim, a father of a young girl, was urgently transported to Joaquín Castillo Duany Military Hospital with serious injuries.

Also, so far this month, another 36-year-old man, identified as Roberto Castilla Oñate, was killed at a street party in the Reparto Chicharrones, in Santiago de Cuba. In this case, the motive for the aggression seems to be related to an ex-partner.

At least 18 people died in Cuba during the month of July due to the rising wave of violence affecting the Island, according to figures from the Cuban Observatory of Conflicts (OCC).

One of the most chilling deaths in July was that of a 51-year-old security guard, murdered in the Bahía neighborhood of East Havana. He worked at a dollar store called El Rocío. Apparently, robbers entered, and he was watching over the place. The body was found, along with a machete, in a dumpster.
