A group of teenagers, friends of Kevin Quiala Suárez, the 16-year-old who died instantly in the early hours of this Sunday after being hit by a motorcycle in Santiago de Cuba, paid a posthumous tribute to the deceased.

One of the photos -shared on social media by journalist Yosmany Mayeta- shows six people, five of whom are very young, with their hand on the chest of Kevin Quiala, whose body has been placed in a cold chamber awaiting the arrival of some family members from abroad to carry out the wake.

"A group of friends, with their hands on Kevin Quiala's chest, transmit their energies as a mark of their friendship beyond death," noted the communicator about the striking image.

According to the version of the tragedy reported by Mayeta Labrada, Quiala Suárez - who was studying music - was leaving a bar with some friends when, while standing in the middle of the street, he did not notice that a motorcycle was coming and was struck, being thrown back after the impact. He died instantly.

"So far, they have confirmed to me that the motorcyclist is also injured and two more people were hurt in this accident," the communicator reiterated in his latest report on the case.

A witness identified as Yover Más Duro Guibert, who was with Quiala at the time of his death, expressed his shock at the tragic event. He shared a photo and a video he made of the group of friends who were together at the bar and clarified that the deceased "was not drunk or anything like that."

"He simply crossed the street without looking and didn't give time for anything. That was in front of me," lamented the witness.

The sudden death of the teenager has caused deep distress among his family, friends, classmates, and teachers at the school where he studied.

The death of the young Santiago resident adds to a few days that are being bleak in Cuba, with constant reports of fatalities due to multiple causes: whether from accidents, femicides, or brutal crimes like the murder of four people, two of them minors, in Ceballos, Ciego de Ávila.
