Power outages announced for this Monday as the electricity generation capacity deficit rises again.

The UNE forecasts a deficit of 459 MW during peak hours, which could lead to power outages of up to 529 MW during this time.

The Electric Union (UNE) reported that this Monday, blackouts are expected in several regions of Cuba due to a significant deficit in generation capacity.

At 07:00 hours, the availability of the National Electric System (SEN) was at 2,376 MW, compared to a demand of 2,260 MW, and the maximum impact at noon was 150 MW.

As is usually the case, the situation is complicated, as several generating units are out of service due to breakdowns, including unit 5 of Mariel, unit 1 of the Santa Cruz CTE, unit 2 of the Felton CTE, and units 3 and 5 of Renté.

In addition, there are 30 distributed generation plants affected by a lack of fuel, resulting in an additional loss of 253 MW, reported UNE in a press release published on the official website Cubadebate.

For today's peak hour, the operation of some motors from the Santiago truck and from unit 3 of the CTE Renté is expected, which would add a total of 165 MW to the grid.

Nevertheless, the UNE forecasts a deficit of 459 MW, which could lead to blackouts of up to 529 MW during this time.

This scenario of prolonged interruptions highlights the fragility of the electrical system in Cuba, exacerbated by a lack of proper maintenance and fuel shortages, factors that will continue to affect the daily lives of the people in light of the regime's failure to fulfill its responsibilities.
