A Cuban living in the United States has moved thousands of people on TikTok by sharing the moment he fulfilled a promise made to the Virgin of Charity of Cobre, the patroness of Cuba.
During his recent visit to the island, this Cuban went to the National Sanctuary in Santiago de Cuba, where he climbed the steps of the temple on his knees, dressed completely in white, just as he had promised before emigrating.
"I promised the Virgin that if one day I arrived in the United States, I would climb the steps of the church on my knees dressed in white the day I returned," wrote @luisrubengonzalez2 in the video where he showed his devotion with each step.
"Finally, I was able to keep my promise," she added about the video where she climbed the last step and celebrated that "faith and the desire to succeed move mountains," a message that has touched the hearts of many.
At the time of this note, the video had already surpassed 4,500 likes and provoked more than 240 comments, the majority reflecting support, admiration, and shared emotions: "I got goosebumps watching your video because I made that same promise and I will fulfill it because she fulfilled hers with me"; "I made my promise if she helped me get out of Cuba, it's been 5 years and in a few days I'm going back to see my mother and my son and of course to fulfill my promise, thank you"; "I cried… this is something only we Cubans know and feel"; "This is just the beginning of a long story; let the achievements come because you are perseverant. Happy that you were able to see your parents and family. Blessings"; "I also have a similar promise with her and in October I will go to fulfill it"; "My patroness is the Virgin of Charity of El Cobre, my Santiago de Cuba"; "What excitement, I also did it for the health of my son, the Charity of El Cobre is great"; "I cried, I haven't reached the goal yet, but at least I got out of there"; "I promised her that if I left, I would go up on my knees and the day before I left, I fulfilled it"; "Promises are promises, brother. A rain of blessings, thanks to her and everything that exists, your dream was achieved," some commented.
After this video, the Cuban -who apparently lives in Miami according to social media- shared another one of the emotional reunion with his family on the island: "Only Cubans understand what it means to leave behind the people you love, in order to one day give them everything they gave us," he wrote about the scene.
"Embracing my parents again is a beautiful thing," he/she added.
