Miami police arrested Yadir Alejandro Gongora, a 40-year-old Cuban resident of Hialeah, on charges of raping two women in separate incidents while posing as a rideshare driver.

Currently, Gongora faces two charges of sexual assault and kidnapping that occurred before his first arrest in October 2023 for the same crime.

In the first incident, a 22-year-old woman woke up being raped by Gongora in the back of a vehicle, reported Local 10.

In the first incident, the police said that a 22-year-old woman who left the bar in Brickell around 2 a.m. on August 20, 2023, woke up to find herself raped by Gongora in the back of a vehicle driven by another man.

Later, he woke up again in the vehicle with Gongora beside him in the parking lot of Publix at 134 SW 13th St., which was not his intended destination, an arrest report indicates.

It indicates that he would later report what happened to the police and undergo a sexual assault examination.

The second rape occurred on September 29, 2023, when a 21-year-old woman woke up at 7 a.m. outside Navarro Discount Pharmacy, near her home, with no memories of the previous night. The victim found her underwear in her bag and noticed the absence of her phone, wallet, and camera.

Both cases are linked to Gongora after comparing the DNA evidence with records from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement database.

In October, he was accused of raping a woman by posing as an Uber driver.

According to police reports, this time he picked up two women from a nightclub in Wynwood and sexually assaulted one of them in South Beach.

In that case, he pleaded guilty to theft and received two years of probation in April, while the charges of sexual assault and armed robbery were dismissed.

After being identified by the victims and subsequently arrested, the detainee admitted in an interview with detectives that he offered rides to people leaving clubs in the Wynwood and downtown Miami areas, charging in cash or through apps, although he claimed to be working on his own and not for a rideshare company.

Gongora, who prefers to transport men because according to him women do not have money to pay for trips, is being held without bail at the Metrowest Detention Center, according to online records.

The Miami police are investigating whether Gongora may have victimized more women.
