A man accused of multiple sexual abuses in Cienfuegos remains a fugitive from authorities, despite the fact that the community has taken to the streets in search of him.
Several videos shared on Facebook by the user Saúl Manuel show the desperation of the population due to the inaction of the Police, who have yet to catch the man, identified as Dunién Hernández, a resident of Reina Street.
A recording published on Thursday shows people heading towards the shelter in the Buenavista neighborhood, where the fugitive had supposedly hidden.
Here nothing at all, the man doesn't want to come out. It's really lively there, full of guys, I think even the Police left and nothing at all. For anyone saying they already caught him, that's a lie," says the woman who filmed everything with her cellphone.
"No one has been caught here. They say he is inside but the man doesn't want to come out, and the police haven't gone to look for him either," he added.
Later, another woman claims that the provincial governor herself, Yolexis Rodríguez Armada, went to the place upset and alarmed by the situation.
Some people comment that the police have the aggressor surrounded while others claim that there is no one there.
"There is nothing clear," emphasizes the author of the recording.
In the last few hours, other videos have been shared of the crowd on the street looking for the alleged attacker. In all of them, the anxiety of the people is observed, but not the police.
Confusion reigns due to the inefficiency of the authorities, and with the silence of the official press, the versions of the alleged attacks multiply without it being known for certain how many women the individual assaulted, whether they were girls or adults.
All of this takes place in a context marked by the economic and social crisis, where people's tension could lead to a fatal outcome.
This week, residents in the southern province alerted through social media about the presence of the alleged fugitive rapist, who would have tried to rape a 14-year-old girl.
They explained that on Tuesday the man "attacked a young woman on 35th Street between 52nd and 54th."
"He put a knife to her neck and raped her, the police tried to catch him without success!", details a post by internet user Jennifer Sánchez Rodríguez.
The woman emphasized that previously, Hernandez had raped a 14-year-old girl and stabbed a man from the Buenavista neighborhood.
"Cienfuegos is terrified by this, it is still on the street!" the publication stated.
That version differs from the one given by neighbors of the alleged victim from Tuesday. They claimed that the man tried to rape the daughter of a woman named Yamitsys, who is a teacher at Armando Mestre Elementary School. He tore off all of her clothes but the girl started screaming loudly.
The mother of the minor was taken to the Police to give a statement on Wednesday morning, they stated.
This incident has outraged the residents in the city, who proposed on social media to take to the streets armed with machetes and sticks to catch the man.
