"My immediate dream is to live with my wife in a habitable house, even if it's humble," the writer wrote on his Facebook.

Ernesto Martí Rivero, a writer from Villa Clara, recently put eight of his unpublished books up for sale to be able to restore the roof of his house, which collapsed in recent days.

"I have eight good unpublished books available for editing, selling, or any deal that can at least solve something of my situation. I do not spare copyright; what is written is written for others who enjoy or need the pleasure of literature now or through time," Martí Rivero wrote on his Facebook profile.

"I need money, or a little money right now. Tell me what you can do to help with that. I mean negotiating with my work; literature has no owner beyond the copyright that guarantees - when it happens - the money, the property rights, and many times the banality of the intellectual or the artist flaunting the gift that in most cases leads to selfishness, envy, and rivalries, evils that from their bearers end up harming us mercilessly who, beyond intellectuality and talent, have never had anything," emphasized the writer, who also accompanied the post with photos of his housing in poor condition.

In another post, the Cuban pointed out that "my immediate dream is to live with my wife in a habitable house, even if it's humble like the one we want to buy for 1500 dollars."

He also said he would accept any kind of help to urgently address "this terrible problem for us," he expressed.

A friend of the writer commented that his words came from a "desperate" soul. "The fact is that Ernesto Martí Rivero's roof collapsed, which, by the way, was in very, very, very poor condition. Now imagine how it must have ended up," he said.

"I think you should make a short video and post that you need help and support through donations because you have a difficult housing situation. And show what is happening, you have no other choice. Maybe that will help many see the situation in real time," another person indicated.

Martí Rivero is a writer born in Santa Clara, but residing in Manicaragua. He has published the poetry books Mitos en la selva de Harasay, 1999; Andanzas y memorias, 2001; Lienzos y juglares, 1999; El niño árbol, 2017. He has received several awards in national and provincial competitions. His poems appear in various anthologies.

The situation of this writer is added to that of thousands of families in Cuba who still lack access to decent housing, a situation that worsens over time, with the rising costs of construction materials and the continuous collapses throughout the island.

Meanwhile, the Cuban government does not fail in the construction of hotels, despite the low occupancy they have.
