They show the condition of the Transtur bus involved in the accident in Santiago de Cuba.

The driver, who is in serious condition, after working in the workshop, only had time to go home to take a shower and go out to pick up the people he took from Havana to Santiago.

Independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta shared images of the Transtur Habana bus that had an accident in Santiago de Cuba on Wednesday, leaving nine injured, two of them seriously.

The bus, which collided with a trailer on the National Highway and then crashed into a house, was removed from the site by firefighters this Wednesday.

The photos and a video published by Mayeta show the serious damage to the vehicle, especially in the front area. Of the nine injured, the most serious case is the driver, identified as Henry Yanes Díaz, 36 years old, who is in critical condition and in danger of death.

According to the reporter, the bus was transporting travelers from José Martí National Airport to Santiago de Cuba, as their Habana-Santiago flight did not depart because the plane had a malfunction and was stranded on the runway of the eastern city.

The passengers left the capital on three buses rented by Cubana de Avión, the first of which was the one that had the accident between the municipalities of Contramaestre and Palma Soriano.

"The buses designated for this transportation began to leave after 6:20 PM yesterday [Tuesday], from Terminal 1 of the José Martí Airport. They did not leave earlier because they were in the workshop and then had to fuel up," the information details.

"The driver with serious injuries, after leaving the workshop, only had time to get home, take a shower because he was covered in grease, and leave for the airport, where he picked up the first group of people that included parents with children and elderly individuals," specifies the note published on Facebook.

So far, authorities have not provided further information about the health status of the injured driver, who resides in El Cotorro, in Havana.

For his part, the passenger Ricardo Matos Reyes, 58 years old and a resident of the city of Guantánamo, is reported to be in serious condition but not in danger of death. The other seven injured individuals suffered minor injuries.

Everyone was treated at the Juan Bautista General Hospital in Palma Soriano (the two seriously injured are in intensive care).

According to Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, the first secretary of the Party in the province, who reported on Facebook, the Transtur bus was transporting 40 Cuban passengers when it collided with a trailer belonging to EMGEF Generation of electric power Fuel-Oil generators, which was headed towards Contramaestre.

So far, the causes of the accident have not been reported.
