A blackout interrupts the live broadcast of Canal Habana.

This is not the first time that the live broadcast of a television channel in Cuba has been interrupted due to a blackout in recent months.

On the afternoon of this Monday, the live signal from Canal Habana was interrupted by a blackout, according to a brief message posted by the channel on Facebook.

"Dear viewers: We inform you that due to a lack of electrical power, the broadcast of the Channel Habana signal has been affected, so some of our usual programs were not aired. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you," they wrote on the mentioned social network around 6:00 p.m. (local time).

Although the initial publication included "news in progress" at the end, there were no updates or further explanations about what happened through that channel, and then they removed the banner.

In the comments section of the post, around an hour after the initial message, they indicated that the live signal had been restored.

The main program affected by the failure was apparently Habana Noticiario, which, according to comments, was supposed to be broadcast at night.

Several internet users pointed out that this is not the first time the signal has been interrupted on that channel, while others questioned why they do not have a generator. This observation was noted by another internet user who recalled that even many hospitals in Cuba lack generators or have them broken.

It is not the first television blackout in recent months in Cuba.

In July, the Cuban singer Annie Garcés, one of the performers of the song "Patria o Muerte por la Vida," experienced a blackout during the recording of the show "En tiempo real," in that case at the Canal Caribe studios.

Although the residents of Havana do not suffer remotely the impact of blackouts that those in the rest of the country experience, last Friday the Electric Company of Havana announced the need to increase blackouts in the capital to four hours due to a significant deficit in the electricity generation of the National Electric System (SEN).
