A seven-year-old girl is seriously injured after being hit by an elderly woman in Miami.

After the strong impact, the minor was left unconscious and immediate help from witnesses was needed to get her out from under the car.

A seven-year-old girl was seriously injured on the afternoon of this Monday when, upon leaving a pharmacy in Coral Gables, Miami-Dade, a 92-year-old woman lost control of the car she was driving and hit her.

After the strong impact, the minor was left unconscious and immediate help from witnesses was needed to get her out from under the vehicle.

The incident occurred near Navarro Discount Pharmacy, at 2120 SW 32nd Ave, shortly before four in the afternoon.

The girl -whose identity has not been revealed- was accompanied by her mother, who also sustained injuries, although more minor.

A spokesperson for the Miami police department, cited by local press, reported that the elderly woman pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, which caused the maroon Nissan Rogue SUV she was driving to crash into a wall of the establishment's facade.

The front of the car was destroyed. On the ground, pieces of glass, debris, and even a no parking sign that was torn down could be seen.

The girl was transported by ambulance to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition.

While the accident was being investigated, the vehicle remained at the scene for several hours until a tow truck removed it from the front of the pharmacy, located at 2120 Southwest on 23rd Avenue.

The authorities said that the driver will be fined for reckless driving, but it is unlikely that criminal charges will be filed.

As of the closing of this note, there are no new updates on the clinical condition of the minor.
