Informal foreign exchange market in Cuba: Price of dollars, euros, and MLC today

The three reference currencies in Cuba recorded another day on September 4 with no changes in the average selling price in the informal market.

The dollar remains pegged at 320 CUP, the euro at 330, and the Convertible Currency (MLC) at 275, reaffirming an unprecedented stability that has characterized the last few weeks.

Exchange rate today 04/09/2024 - 1:00 a.m. in Cuba:

Exchange rate of the USD to CUP according to elTOQUE: 320 CUP.

Exchange rate of the euro EUR to CUP according to elTOQUE: 330 CUP.

Exchange rate of MLC to CUP according to TOQUE: 275 CUP.

The US dollar reached 320 CUP on August 3, and since then, the monitoring of classified ads that average its price in the informal market has shown no signs of movement, according to elToque.

In the case of the euro, the European currency reached 330 CUP on August 5 and since then its selling value has not changed either.

The last to register movement was the Freely Convertible Currency (MLC), but that was more than three weeks ago. Since August 9, the virtual currency used by the Cuban government has been valued at 275 CUP.

The stability of the last few weeks contrasts with the abrupt changes of the first seven months of 2024, during which currencies experienced strong fluctuations both in price increases and decreases.

For the moment, elToque does not comment on the current situation of the exchange landscape in Cuba.

The median of buying and selling values published this Tuesday by the independent media does not allow us to anticipate that the three reference currencies are close to experiencing changes.

The average sale on this September 4th for the three is 330 pesos (euros), 320 (dollars), and 275 (MLC).

In the case of currency purchases, today the average decreases for dollars (to 317 CUP) and MLC (to 270).
