At least four people lost their lives and several others were injured in a shooting that occurred this Wednesday at Apalachee High School in the American locality of Winder, Georgia.

The police were able to arrest a suspect, but the sheriff did not reveal additional details about the incident. He is expected to provide more information during a press conference scheduled for 4 p.m.

The shooter is alive and in police custody. So far, it is believed to be a 14-year-old teenager, according to a police source who spoke with CNN. It is still unknown whether the young person attended that school.

Additionally, the authorities also revealed that the school had received a phone threat before the shooting.

Law enforcement officials told the cited media that the call, made on Wednesday morning, warned about possible shootings at five schools, and that Apalachee High School would be the first.

The person who made the call has not been identified, but officials are investigating its origin.

The United States has experienced at least 385 mass shootings so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which, like CNN, defines mass shootings as those in which four or more people are injured by gunfire.
