Cuban opposition member Manuel Milanés is shot in front of his house in Florida.

The Cuban influencer and opposition member Manuel Milanés suffered an attack on Thursday afternoon in front of his house in the city of Ave María, Florida, United States, stated a statement from the Cuba Antitotalitaria platform.

"The Chancellor of the Council for the Anti-Communist War (CPGA) Wilfredo Beyra informed the public and emphasized that in the battle against communism, there are never coincidences," notes the statement published on his Facebook profile.

Beyra, in a Facebook Live broadcast, pointed out that the near-fatal assault against Milanés is under investigation by U.S. authorities.

The statement is dated in the city of Santa Clara, Cuba, on August 22, 2024, and signed by Guillermo "Coco" Fariñas Hernández, Benito Fojaco Iser, Lisset Coll Hernández, Ramiro Gómez Barruecos, José Raúl Rodríguez Rangel.

Milanés was transferred to the hospital by helicopter and "the surgical procedure was a success," Beyra noted.

No further details about what happened or Milanés' health status were provided at the family's request.
