Cuban authorities captured the perpetrator of the murder of a 21-year-old man on Friday in the town of San Germán, Urbano Noris municipality, Holguín.
The official pro-government Facebook profile "Cazador-Cazado" revealed that the criminal's name is Alian Salas Vázquez and he was arrested a few hours after the crime.
According to the publication, on Friday night Salas Vázquez attacked the victim with a knife to steal his bicycle and cellphone. Initially, he managed to escape, but shortly after he was seen in the area on a bicycle and was arrested.
On the other hand, the Facebook profile "La Tijera" added that the criminal is known in the area along with his brother as Los Mellizos de Felicia.
"He was on leave from the prison where he is serving a sentence along with his brother (the other twin), as both had murdered their stepfather for the same reason," the post detailed.
Subsequently, La Tijera corrected that information and clarified that the previous victim of the Felicia Twins was not their stepfather, but a young man named Osmany Rodríguez, who was killed in November 2020 to steal his bicycle.
"They were imprisoned because of that situation, but as they are minors, they were not sentenced with the severity that their crime deserves, and now they are out on leave and committing another murder," she reported in another post.
The young man killed this week was named José Manuel Martínez, and according to La Tijera, his attacker "mercilessly stabbed and slashed him until causing his death."
"In statements to the Police after his capture, he confessed that 'he was high, needed money, and that kid passed by at that moment, was in the wrong place.'" he added.
The young man who was murdered was buried on Saturday in San Germán. The crime has caused consternation in the town, which demands justice for his death.
Also in San Germán, a violent assault occurred a few days ago in which a family consisting of a woman, her husband, and their minor grandson were gagged in their home by some thieves for an hour, during which time they took an MZ motorcycle, jewelry, appliances, and the food from their grocery quota.
In Holguín, the murder of a beloved physical education teacher made news last week.
Gilberto Laffita, who resided in the Reparto Peralta of the capital city of Holguín, was murdered during an attempted robbery at his home.
