Cuban artists celebrate the Virgin of Charity of El Cobre on her day.

September 8 is the Day of the Virgin of Charity of Copper. Many Cuban artists, both on and off the island, shared images on their social media that show their devotion to the Patroness of Cuba.


This Sunday, several renowned Cuban artists shared messages of celebration for the Day of the Virgin of Charity of Cobre, a figure revered by millions of Cubans both on and off the island.

Among those who stood out for their public tributes to the Patroness of Cuba are actors, singers, and musicians who expressed their emotions and devotion through social media.

Instagram Alejandro Cuervo

Actor Alejandro Cuervo was one of the first to show his respect for the Virgin, with an emotional message in which he expressed his gratitude for the blessings received. "May Charity bless you all," he wrote in the stories on his Instagram account.

The singer Yeny Valdés also joined the tributes, publishing a video dedicating her most sincere and beautiful wishes to her followers on the day of the Virgin of Charity. "Today is a special day for all Cubans. May this miraculous saint pour her sweet waters over us," she said.

Emilio Frías, director of the orchestra El Niño y la Verdad, showed his devotion by attending a Mass in honor of the Virgin of Charity at the Hermitage of Miami.

Instagram Daisy Ballmajó

The presenter Daisy Ballmajó shared a message of faith and hope, along with a beautiful photo of yellow flowers and a piece of art dedicated to the Virgin of Charity.

For her part, singer Lynn Milanés touched her followers by sharing a video of a song that her father, Pablo Milanés, performed in honor of the Virgin of Charity, accompanied by pianist José María Vitier.

The Virgin of Charity of Cobre is syncretized in Yoruba tradition with the goddess Ochún. She is a symbol of faith and hope for millions of Cubans. Her image is venerated by both Catholic believers and those who practice Afro-Cuban religions, representing unity and protection.
