The Villaclareño catcher Ariel Pestano Jr., who left Cuba in early June heading to Nicaragua with the aim of pursuing a professional career, is making his way in the Mexican Pacific League.

A recent report from journalist Yussef Díaz indicated that Pestano Jr. has been invited to the Cañeros de Los Mochis training, a team that won the Mexican Pacific League in the 2022-2023 season.

The invitation is aimed at showcasing your talent and assessing your performance with a view to a possible contract.

It is the second team in Mexico that offers him an opportunity after his departure from the island.

In July, the 26-year-old had been called up by the Guerreros de Oaxaca, marking the beginning of his adventure in Mexican baseball.

The opportunity with the Cañeros represents a new platform to showcase their potential and convince the management of their skills.

Pestano Jr. requested to leave the national baseball team at the end of May, during the 63rd National Series, where he displayed a good performance with Villa Clara: he recorded a batting average of .276, hit eight home runs, and drove in 31 runs.

It was previously reported that the player's plan was to meet in the United States with his girlfriend, identified on Instagram as Mary Elizundia, who has been living in that country for some time and works as a model.

"At 26 years old, he still has the chance to at least try to continue in baseball," noted Francys Romero in June, who pointed out that Pestano Jr. is an ambidextrous hitter with excellent defensive skills.

Ariel Pestano Jr. participated in six National Series between 2017 and 2024. In his career, he has an OBP of .382, with 41 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, 83 runs batted in, and 169 produced.

He played 66 games in the current 63rd National Series with Villa Clara, where he batted .276 with 8 home runs and an OBP of .392.
