The young baseball player Xian Vega, son of the renowned actor Herón Vega, decided to leave Cuban baseball behind and traveled to Nicaragua with the goal of reaching the United States signed by a Major League Baseball (MLB) organization.

According to the post on the social media platform Facebook by journalist Francys Romero, the 21-year-old player is in Nicaraguan territory under the watch of coaches from the International Baseball Academy.

Romero himself recalled that he placed the first baseman - who can also play in the outfield - on his list of the best under-18 talents on the island in 2020. In fact, his best results came in the lower categories, as he made the Cuba under-23 team for the Pan American Championship in that category.

Vega played in three National Series with the Elefantes de Cienfuegos and in the last season he finished with an offensive line of .268/.333/.351, with four home runs and 25 RBIs.

According to Romero's sources, the athlete must present themselves before scouts in mid-September.

His father Heron Vega, a fervent lover of baseball, is the son of two notable figures in the artistic landscape of the largest of the Antilles: Daisy Granados and Pastor Vega.
