The police in Sweetwater, Miami, are looking for a woman who escaped from a beauty salon without paying after receiving an expensive hair extension service.
The incident took place on September 6 at Yanka’s Hair Extension, a renowned salon located at 10780 W Flagler Street. Authorities indicated that the value of the service was approximately $1,195.
The owner of the salon, Yanka Castillo, detailed that the woman claimed her name was "Stefani" but on social media, she has been identified as "Heidy Guzam." She arrived at the establishment at around 6:30 pm and requested one of the most expensive services offered by the business.
The client seemed to be well-informed about hair extensions and chose a specialized procedure. Before starting, as is customary, she was informed of the total price of the service, which she accepted without any issues.
However, once the procedure was completed and at the moment of payment, the situation became chaotic. The woman refused to pay for the service, leading to an altercation.
At that moment, the owner offered to remove the extensions that had just been applied as a solution, but she was only able to take out three strands before the client began to act aggressively.
The security cameras in the lounge captured the moment when the woman got up from the chair and pushed Castillo as she tried to hold her back to prevent her from escaping without paying.
Castillo made a report to the police, explaining that she was physically attacked by the suspect, who ultimately managed to flee the hair salon with the hair extensions.
It is a white woman, with long blonde hair, approximately 37 years old, with a tattoo on her neck that says "11:11."
At the time of the incident, she was wearing a white tank top, black leggings, and white sneakers. She had a backpack and a small dog, which caught the authorities' attention.
The spokesperson for the Sweetwater police, Álvaro Zabaleta, explained that the suspect could be facing serious charges.
"Obviously, we are talking about a significant theft, which is a felony. Additionally, due to the physical altercation with the owner of the salon, it is likely that she will face additional assault charges," Zabaleta stated.
The police department has opened an investigation to locate the woman, who was last seen in the area of SW 129 Ave & 6 St, University Trailer Park, a place she frequents, according to reports.
The incident has generated outrage in the Miami community, particularly among small business owners who, like Castillo, have been victims of people who take advantage of their services without paying.
The owner of the salon expressed her frustration after the incident and shared images of the altercation, which has allowed other victims of the same woman to reach out to her.
"In just a few hours, I already had information about her. She hasn't just stolen from my business; she's also done it in other salons and even tried to take food carts from Sedano's," commented Yanka Castillo.
Authorities are asking anyone who recognizes the woman in the images to contact the Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers line at (305) 471-8477 or Detective Rodríguez of the Sweetwater police at (305) 552-9900.
