The Electric Union (UNE) of Cuba forecasts power outages for this Wednesday, with an impact of 250 MW at noon and 570 MW during peak hours.
The previous day, the service began without functioning and could not be restored until 7:40 am. Less than an hour had passed when it began to be affected again at 8:37 am and stayed that way throughout the day, until it was restored at 1:09 am this morning.
The maximum impact was 698 MW at 8:30 PM, coinciding with peak hours.
According to the UNE report, this Wednesday at 7:00 am, the availability of the SEN was that the entire system was operational. During the midday hours, an impact of 250 MW is estimated.
At peak hour, a availability of 2650 MW is estimated with a maximum demand of 3150 MW, resulting in a deficit of 500 MW, which is expected to affect 570 MW.
At this moment, two units from CTE Rente and Felton are out of service due to breakdowns. Additionally, 32 distributed generation plants (242 MW affected) are out of service due to fuel issues, and the limitations in thermal generation are 587 MW.
In the midst of an energy crisis that seems never-ending, Cuba is witnessing shocking scenes, such as that of a family in Bayamo, including a minor, sleeping outdoors in a desperate attempt to escape the stifling heat.
Isis Ro shared on Facebook images showing a woman and a small girl forced to sleep outdoors on what appears to be the slab or patio of a house.
Last week, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de La O Levy, admitted that the government's strategy to prevent blackouts in the summer failed.
According to the executive, although the planned maintenance was carried out during the first half of the year, "there were significant issues with fuel," which resulted in long blackouts, some lasting "up to 12 hours in certain places."
