The Cuban boatman Hubert Rodolfo Fonseca Rivero, reported missing in Havana since last Sunday, has returned safe and sound to his family.
According to the digital site CubaNet, his wife Leidys Rodríguez reported that Fonseca's car broke down in Matanzas and his cell phone ran out of battery, which is why he couldn't communicate.
Rodríguez herself had asked for help on social media: "I am his wife and I am desperate. I ask everyone for help, thank you," the woman concluded.
On Facebook, he wrote that Fonseca had taken a ride with a friend to Tarará, in the municipality of Habana del Este, and that they rented there around 4:30 pm without leaving any new traces.
On Monday, she filed the report at unit 4 of the National Police.
In recent years—also coinciding with the increase in violence—reports of missing persons in Cuba have become frequent, causing concern among families, who desperately turn to social media and independent media seeking help to locate their loved ones, in the absence of an official channel to make these cases visible.
