The Matanzas government resorts to wheelbarrows and ETECSA electric carts to distribute bread.

The "solutions" highlight the crisis affecting the province in the transfer of regulated bread.

The incapacity of the Cuban regime continues to reveal images of the deep economic crisis that affects the most basic services for the population: the government of Matanzas has been forced to resort to the use of wheelbarrows pushed by people and ETECSA's electric carts to fulfill the distribution of rationed bread, once again highlighting the difficulties in guaranteeing even the most basic necessities.

The official journalist Yuni Moliner defended on Facebook this Saturday the decision of the Matanzas government to use ETECSA's electric cars for the transportation of subsidized bread.

"Given the current complexities with fuel, the interconnection between companies and the timely measures are appreciated," said Moliner, downplaying the fact that there is a reliance on improvised solutions to transport the bread made in the units of the Provincial Food Company to the warehouses.

The Facebook page of the Versalles Popular Council, in the city of Matanzas, showcased the use of a wheelbarrow as a solution to the evident crisis in bread transportation in the province, to move the product from the bakery to the stores.

"Faced with a transportation problem for moving bread to the warehouses, popular participation as an alternative is necessary," the profile indicated.

She pointed out that in that "task" participates the delegate of the 9th district of the Versalles Popular Council, María Mercedes Ruiz Alonso, along with her constituents.

"That is the attitude of the Council delegates. At this moment, everyone is focused on solving every difficulty," the page boasted.

The Cuban regime announced last Friday that it would reduce the size of the basic basket bread, which will now weigh only 60 grams.

Anayra Cabrera Martínez, general director of industrial policy at the Ministry of Food Industry (MINAL), revealed that the low availability of wheat flour forces a reduction in the weight of the bread from 80 grams to 60 grams. The price also dropped from one peso to 75 cents.

The management explained that this is the only way they can ensure that the population can acquire bread daily and avoid issues like those that occurred months ago.

However, the measure has been harshly criticized by people on social media who pointed out that the bread, now with a laughable size, does not reach the stipulated 60 grams.

For years, the regime has been unable to guarantee the quality and stability of the regulated bread production it distributes rationed among the population.

An example of this is the constant complaints circulating on the Internet, where people criticize the taste, texture, size, and stability of such a sensitive product as bread.
