Democratic candidate Kamala Harris reacted on social media this Sunday after learning about the shooting that occurred near her Republican rival, Donald Trump, stating: “I’m glad he is safe.”

"I have been informed that shots have been fired near former President Trump and his property in Florida," said the current vice president of the United States on the social network X.

Harris expressed her relief for Trump's safety and added: "Violence has no place in the United States."

The former American president and Republican candidate for the elections next month in November, Donald Trump, emerged unharmed from a shooting that occurred at his golf club in Florida this Sunday.

"President Trump is safe following the shots fired in his vicinity. There are no further details at this time," noted Steven Cheung, director of communications for Trump's campaign, in a brief statement distributed to the press.

Immediately after the incident occurred, the son of the former president, Donald Trump Junior, reacted on the social network X where he mentioned that the shots took place at the Trump International golf club, located in West Palm Beach, Florida, about five miles inland from Mar-a-Lago, Trump's official residence.

In its publication, it confirmed that "a suspect has been detained" in relation to this incident.

The newspaper The New York Post, citing police sources, reported that Secret Service agents opened fire on a man who was apparently carrying a weapon while the former president was at the Trump International Golf Course.

The incident occurs two months after Trump survived an assassination attempt during a campaign event in Pennsylvania.
