Bail of 100 thousand pesos for a detained individual in Aguacate (Santiago de Cuba) for complaining about three murders.

The arrested individual is a cousin of Jorge Luis Heredia Cala, murdered in March of this year by Tatico, a neighbor of this town of Palma Soriano, who is at large despite confessing to the crime.

Luis Ángel Ríos Cala (March 28, 1978) will have to pay a bail of 100,000 pesos (312 USD at the current exchange rate) if he wants to be released after the Aguacate police, a town in Palma Soriano, Santiago de Cuba, arrested him on Monday for commenting at a wake that if there were justice in Aguacate, there wouldn't be so many murders.

Luis Ángel Ríos Cala erupted at the funeral of Arianni Céspedes, who was murdered on Saturday, September 14, by her ex-partner in front of two children aged 5 and 6, who are the children of a neighbor. At the time of the crime, the minors were gathering almonds at the scene and witnessed when the killer delivered a fatal stab wound to his victim, puncturing a lung.

It was in that context of community shock, because Arianni Céspedes was very well-liked in the town, that Luis Ángel Ríos Cala lamented that in less than a year Aguacate had faced three murders: that of Dorka Velázquez, a 15-year-old girl, who was killed by a rapist in November 2023; that of his cousin, Jorge Luis Heredia Cala, who was murdered after discovering a marijuana field near Aguacate; and that of Arianni Céspedes, at the hands of her ex-husband.

The three murders took place between November 2023 and September 2024, and in the case of Jorge Luis Heredia Cala, cousin of the detainee for whom they are asking for a 100,000 pesos bail, the murderer is free in the town. The Prosecutor's Office released him after five months of preventive detention, believing his version that he accidentally killed Jorge Luis Heredia Cala while throwing a stone at an owl in a dark alley in the town.

The authorities of Aguacate released Yacel Segura, alias Tatico, despite the fact that the whole town, including Julián, the sector chief, knows that Jorge Luis Heredia Cala was killed after mentioning that he had found a farm planted with marijuana.

Luis Ángel Ríos Cala, cousin of the deceased, exploded with anger upon seeing that what had always been a quiet town of humble people has become a silent town where people fear to talk and go out at night: an unsafe town.

The authorities in Aguacate have shown agility in the case of the civic protest by Luis Ángel Ríos Cala, which they have not demonstrated when investigating the ownership of the marijuana field and the true reasons behind the murder of Jorgito Heredia Cala. In the village, two different sources have assured CiberCuba that there has been bribery and corruption in this case. Neither of them has provided evidence. They have remarked on the suspicion that Tatico's father-in-law, Mr. Julio A. Cuevas Pacheco, may have paid to silence the witnesses who saw Tatico with "Hombre" kill Jorgito Heredia. Today, no one knows anything or remembers anything.

The case has not yet been judged, but the criminal is on the street. Luis Ángel Ríos Cala will have to pay 100,000 pesos if he wants to set foot on it again.
