Videos have circulated on social media highlighting the negligence and inaction of the state company "Aguas de La Habana," questioning the regime for failing to address water supply issues and the health problems these cause.
Yulier Rodríguez reported in a video posted on Facebook that a plumbing network failure has created a large hole in a street in Havana, and that the responsible company has neither fixed the leak nor covered the hole.
"I just passed by (Aguas de La Habana)—sorry!! Throwing out Aguas de La Habana," the Cuban joked; however, he also shared an alarming message: "While many families in the Capital go weeks without drinking water, the company indulges in not fixing the breakdowns that are right next to its premises."
Irina Diéguez Toledo, a resident of El Cerro, Havana, also reported on Facebook the dangers her community faces due to the regime's inaction and inability to address the issues with the water supply network, a problem she has highlighted multiple times.
The woman described the scene taking place on a street adjacent to hers: “A river of drinking water, sidewalks damaged by the flow of water, and calandracas (small worms) growing there.”
Additionally, they shared images and videos showing how residents have improvised "river" paths using old tires, planks, and bricks, as it would otherwise be impossible to enter or exit some homes.
The constant presence of leaks in the streets is undeniable evidence of the inefficiency of the Cuban regime.
Last March, a small pothole and drainage area turned into a pool that the children of Cerro in Havana enjoyed.
"When you’re feeling down, remember that this started as a small pothole in Cerro and today it has become the 'Bachecitos del Futuro' Recreation Center for the enjoyment of kids during their break week," the Facebook profile "LaSai Dela Vida" quipped.
The video shows children and adolescents jumping into the huge water-filled pit that is pierced by a pipe from the company Aguas de La Habana, which apparently has a leak.
