Adventist singer Dairon Gavilán revealed that he was prevented from participating in the Cuerda Viva Festival gala due to his song "In the Name of Jesus," which repeatedly mentions the name of Jesus.

The artist explained the situation through his social media. "They asked us to change the song because it mentioned Jesus a lot, but we decided not to, as our faith and principles come first," he expressed on his Facebook page.

Despite the program team's attempt to allow interpretation, it ultimately was not possible and was censored. However, the singer remains optimistic, stating that "God has bigger things prepared."

Recently, Dairon also announced that he was once again nominated for the Arpa Awards, where he will share the stage with recognized Christian artists such as Jesús Adrián Romero, Marcos Witt, and Christine D'Clario.

Despite the criticism and obstacles, Gavilán has maintained his firm stance, earning the respect of many for his commitment to his faith and musical mission.

Meanwhile, the Facebook page Mundo Adventista Cuba SG stated that the artist hinted at the possibility of performing at the Teatro de Bellas Artes, which has generated great anticipation among his followers, who expressed enthusiasm at the idea of joining him on that iconic stage to praise God together.

Gavilán continues to be an example of perseverance for the Cuban Christian community, demonstrating that, although doors may close, new opportunities arise for those who maintain their unwavering faith and principles.

In 2023, the official Cuban television news channel censored Melba Pérez Herrera, the woman from Santiago who saved a baby from Havana with a blood donation, and removed some of the religious statements she made.

The Caribbean Channel published two versions of the information, but in the news broadcast at 8:00 p.m., it was where they cut the moment when the woman thanked "God for the miracle."

A year earlier, the Colors Breaking Barriers Project denounced the censorship by the Cuban Television News of a Christian gay family in a report about the campaign "Until Love is Law."

The project released a joint statement with other initiatives dedicated to defending the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community in Cuba, in which it referred to a special material created by journalist Esther Lilian González regarding the Family Code and the aforementioned campaign, created by the Cuban Ecumenical Voices Platform (VEC). The report was broadcast on February 20 during the evening edition of NTV.
