Discussion over a reggaeton song ends with one dead in Fort Lauderdale restaurant.

The victim, identified as Socorro Camacho, a 54-year-old Mexican, argued with a man over playing a reggaeton song on the jukebox of a Mexican restaurant in Broward County, and the man shot him.

A reggaeton song was the trigger for a discussion that ended with the shooting death of a man at a Mexican restaurant in the city of Fort Lauderdale, in southern Florida, early Monday morning.

Around 1:26 a.m., police officers arrived at the Antojitos Mexicanos restaurant, located at 3943 Davie Boulevard and State Road 7, in Broward County, after a shooting was reported at the site, and found an adult man dead due to gunshot wounds inflicted by an individual who fled the scene.

The victim was identified as Socorro Camacho, 54 years old and of Mexican nationality, who used to frequent the food establishment.

The preliminary police investigation revealed that a verbal altercation between the victim and another man got out of control and ended with the gunshots that claimed Camacho's life, local media reported.

According to witnesses of the tragic event to the police, Camacho angrily confronted the suspect for playing a reggaeton song on the jukebox of the restaurant and insulted him by saying that he "wasn't Mexican," even though both are compatriots.

While they were arguing, Camacho pulled out a firearm and the other man, who was next to the jukebox, also drew a gun and shot him several times before fleeing the establishment.

Julián Camacho, the victim's brother, went to the site early on Monday after receiving a call from the Fort Lauderdale police to inform him of his brother's murder.

"My brother has already left, but as for the other people... The authorities need to take action because in all these bars there isn't a 'security' to check the people bringing weapons," Julián told AmericaTeVe.

Francisco Ríos, a friend of the victim, expressed: "It's tough, over a song, because that's wrong, can you imagine, fighting over a song... Well, that's where the argument started, they pulled out the weapons and it fell on him."

"Nobody expected that, nobody... Can you imagine, sad..." he lamented.

"He was a good friend to me, comrade; I have known him for 18 years, since I arrived here in Florida. He has always given me work, I worked for him," he said, and asked "that justice be served and that they find the person responsible for his death."

So far, the authorities have not identified the murderer and continue the investigation to find their whereabouts.
