Mother of murdered doctor in Havana demands justice: "May all the murderers receive life imprisonment"

"My son is in the cemetery; he won't come back from there. What an injustice, he was my only son. I'm left all alone, they protect the murderers."

The mother of a doctor murdered in Havana last year is dissatisfied with the sentence imposed on the perpetrator of the crime.

Pablo Corrales Susi, a doctor at the Cristóbal Labra polyclinic in the municipality of La Lisa, was reported missing in May 2023. Days later, he was found dead, a victim of murder for the theft of his motorcycle, a Suzuki that he used to ride to earn extra money.

A year later, her troubled mother demands that the person responsible for the act remain in prison for the rest of their life.

"May all murderers receive life sentences, even if they are minors, may they not be tolerated anymore, and may they not be granted parole. An iron fist with everyone, as Bukele does," claims Rebeca Susi Sarfati in the Facebook group "Denouncing Crimes in Cuba."

According to what he recounted in another post, his son's killer was captured a week after his body was found.

"The trial has already taken place and they only sentenced him to 22 years in prison because he was a minor," recounted the elderly woman, who clarified that the criminal was actually 20 years old.

"He is in a juvenile facility to be rehabilitated. In the meantime, my son is in the cemetery; there is no coming back from that. What an injustice, he was my only son. I'm left alone, they protect the murderers," she concluded.

Pablo Corrales, 53 years old, was another victim of the criminal wave that has erupted in Cuba in recent years.

Described as an incredible and noble person, he went out on May 29, 2023, to get gas and nothing more was heard from him. He used to boat in the Plaza de Marianao, and that day his killer tricked him into taking him from the Piquera de 126 to a location. On the way back, he stabbed him to steal his motorcycle and other belongings.

Four days later, his body with multiple wounds was found between the José Antonio Echeverría Technological University of Havana (Cujae) and Boyeros Avenue.
