Two pizzerias in Miami, La Leggenda and O' Munaciello, have been recognized again among the best in the world, according to the prestigious "Guide to the Best Pizzerias in the World" by the Italian company "Top 50 Pizza," which publishes its list annually. Both pizzerias have stood out for their quality and authenticity, holding significant positions in the rankings for both 2023 and 2024.
In the 2023 edition, O' Munaciello, located in the historic MiMo district and on Coral Way, ranked 25th among the 50 best pizzerias in the world. This establishment, an extension of the famous Florentine pizzeria, is known for its authentic Neapolitan pizza, with dough that ferments for 48 hours and is baked in a traditional brick oven visible from its open kitchen.
For its part, La Leggenda, located on Española Way in Miami Beach, ranked number 73 in 2023. Founded by Giovanni Gagliardi, who comes from a family of Italian pizza makers, La Leggenda stands out for its Napoletana Pizza and its gluten-free dough offering, which has allowed it to establish itself as a favorite in the local scene.
In the 2024 list, both pizzerias improved their positions: La Leggenda ranked number 45, establishing itself as a benchmark in Miami and gaining international recognition. O' Munaciello, on the other hand, maintained its spot in the top 100, occupying position number 55, reaffirming its reputation as one of the best pizzerias outside of Italy.
Both pizzerias also stood out in the list of the "50 Best Pizzas USA 2024," where La Leggenda ranked number 9, while O' Munaciello came in at number 11. These achievements reflect the growing presence of Miami in the global pizza elite, establishing the city of the sun as a top culinary destination for lovers of Neapolitan pizza.
The "Top 50 Pizza" guide evaluates pizzerias worldwide based on the quality of ingredients, the preparation technique, and the overall customer experience, highlighting the ongoing success of La Leggenda and O' Munaciello as representatives of authentic Italian pizza in Miami.
La Leggenda is very popular with celebrities. It is one of the favorite restaurants of former footballer Gerard Piqué, who visits it with his children when he goes to Miami. He was previously seen at the place with Shakira when they were a couple.
