Coast Guard rescues a man and his dog at sea during Hurricane Helene in Florida.

The man and his dog were on a sailboat and were left adrift during the passage of Hurricane Helene, 25 miles from Sanibel Island.

The United States Coast Guard carried out an emotional rescue amid Hurricane Helene, when they saved a man who had shipwrecked with his dog near the coast of Florida.

The man was sailing with his pet on a 36-foot sailboat, but the vessel became disabled and began to flood, about 25 miles from Sanibel Island.

The rescue was carried out by the Clearwater Air Station team of the Coast Guard, who responded quickly to the emergency call.

The man, whose identity has not been revealed, and his loyal canine companion were taken aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and later transferred to Southwest Florida International Airport, where a team of emergency medical services (EMS) was waiting for them.

The reports from the Coast Guard indicate that both were in good health after the rescue.

The vessel was left adrift at sea and could not be recovered at that moment. Authorities reminded navigators of the importance of using VHF channel 16 or calling 911 in emergency situations during storms or hurricanes.

The rescue at sea was recorded by a body camera worn by Second Class Air Survival Technician (AST2) Hudson, and the video was edited by Commander Kellerman of the Clearwater Air Station.
