Aly Sánchez expressed her joy and pride on social media this Friday for the election of Marianela Ancheta as Miss Universe Cuba 2024.
Through her Instagram account, the beloved Cuban actress, comedian, and host shared an emotional message accompanied by a video highlighting moments from the gala, where she expressed her pride not only for Marianela but also for having motivated her to enter the competition.
"I am very happy for you and for me, that I pushed you to sign up. How proud I am that hard work combined with talent bears fruit, how proud I am that a girl from a lost town in Cuba can be the protagonist of a dream! How proud I am that after so many years, Cuba is so well represented in such an important competition!" wrote Aly, emphasizing the significance of this achievement for all Cubans.
In addition, he encouraged the model for her upcoming challenge at Miss Universe, which will be held in Mexico in November, saying: "Today all dignified Cubans are with you because you represent us all. See you in Mexico next month! I love you."
Aly's post generated an avalanche of reactions. "Oh my God, what excitement yesterday," commented a follower, while others highlighted the pride they feel in having Marianela as a representative. "If you can dream it... you can do it," wrote another user.
Marianela Ancheta, a model and entrepreneur from Villa Clara, was crowned Miss Universe Cuba 2024 this past Thursday, after competing among 24 candidates.
Her victory, celebrated both by Aly Sánchez and by many Cubans, is seen as a historic moment for the country, which has not had a representative in Miss Universe for 57 years.
Alina Robert, who was the first runner-up of the pageant, also shared an emotional message on social media after the gala. "Here proud of the Cuban woman, I have the glory of having represented freedom for Cuba," she said.
